Heroes of Loot App Reviews

This game is great!

I have a few things to say about Heroes Of Loot. This game is fun but it would be nice if you made it so if you die you just restart that lvl( not the entire game). Also make a main village between the lvls where you can buy things(including armor and better weapons),play mini games( such as horde mode), meet up with other real players or hire cOmputer players to go on the campaign or play horde mode with you, get new quests, and just talk to the villagers. You should make the game longer and add boss fights. Maybe even give it a plot. Oh and the last lvl should take place in the village b/c the monsters found it and they are trying to destroy it. You should add things like an inventory where you could store things like potions. All in all, this game has potential but that potential is not being used. If you add even half of these things to the game ( I would definitely put multiplayer, Blue Tooth especially, as a priority)then I will give you 5 stars and I will tell all my friends about the game and about Orange Pixel.

Love it!

I absolutely love this game! Its fun and simple and exciting. The only thing(s) that would make it better are better controls (the movement joystick is a little clumsy) and MFi controller support. Otherwise, this is an awesome game and is my go-to for gaming on my phone.

Amazing game!!!

This game is amazing its perfect for the skilled and the not so skilled its very easy to pick up and master its fun and addicting. If youre checking here to see if its worth the money it is COMPLETELY WORTH IT!!!

Old School GAUNTLET fans will love this...

This is the most addictive iOS game that Ive ever played (and I dont typically game on phones). HOL is in reality, closer to GAUNTLET than it is to a true "roguelike" per se; its a real time (vs. turn based) action-packed slugfest, although the dungeon levels are randomized, which is awesome. The UI is basic and simple and easy enough that both vets and beginners alike will love this dungeon crawl. Sometimes the controls can be difficult (when you try to turn on a dime with the speedy elf, it can feel "slippery") but Im sure the game would be best played with a game controller vs. a touch screen. Regardless, if you grew up playing GAUNTLET and/or love fun, addictive, simple dungeon crawls with "roguelite" elements, buy this game! Its comforting to know that if the upcoming GAUNTLET 2014 title (coming to Steam this summer) ends up sucking, fans will already have the true GAUNTLET sequel: HEROES OF LOOT.

Good game, could easily be great

This is a really fun game, somewhere between rogue and gauntlet, but faster paced and cute. Its great fun but marred by a few flaws. First, the characters arent different enough and not well balanced. E.g. The elf seems like a basket case. Second, there are a few programming glitches. The entrances to shops and quests are incorrectly rendered above the character and I for one find the walk to the quest giver to be too long. Worst, the collision detection is borked for traps which can kill you when youre standing near them or even on he wrong side of a wall from them. The random arena levels are a bit too random. Getting stuck in a small room with three minotaurs is simply cruel. Good game, lots of fun, could be great.

Grab a byte at Looters!

A fun little dungeon crawler. As soon as you die you lose your stats which doesnt motivate me to try again, but I had fun while it lasted!

Good concept, sub-par execution

The game can be fast paced and exciting at times, but grows old fast. All the characters are the same, just weaker or stronger versions of the same one. The levels are too similar, and since the longer you play, the harder the dungeon becomes... PERMANENTLY, so get good fast or be prepared to feel cheated a lot. The quests are useless, as they give rather poor loot and often will get you killed. The random arena rooms are simply a terrible idea, as I was instantly killed with full health on a good run. All I could do was blame luck. Another reason to constantly killed was the fact that the controls feel sticky and awkward. While this game had a good rogue-like style, the positives end there.

Has potential

This game looks and sounds fun. The graphics are a nice clean pixel art style, with cool music and nice and appropriate sound effects. The game feels fun to play but quickly turns stale. Just to get this out of the way, the controls are a bit annoying. I would prefer a digital dpad instead of a joystick. And I dont know if this next thing that Im going to mention was done in compensation for the joystick control for movement but it doesnt play like a twin stick shooter (which the controls and genre seem to suggest). The right button is just a button, and your character faces enemies automatically when near them. This means that I dont aim and shoot, I just hold down the attack button and try to get near enemies without touching them. This barely requires any skill, and is even annoying to do because of the digital joystick. While twin stick shooters dont reaaaally require skill (depending on the game design), it would have been better than auto-aiming and shooting enemies with a button press. I like finding quest doors and the secrets with the treasure. I also like the power ups that you can acquire, especially the lightning one. There is very little variety in enemy types and their attack patterns. While there are some new enemies introduced or new environmental hazards, they are few and widely dispersed, making the game more boring to get through due to lack of varying or engaging game play. And for the new enemies and hazards, all they require me to do is not rush in too close to them. Thats it. Nothing else to it. No other skills required. I would have liked to pick up new weapons or equipment so that I can sell at the shop. The weapon upgrade is nice but doesnt feel any more rewarding. The shop is available in the early dungeons but the items to buy are too high for me to purchase since I just started the game and barely have any money. Either have items that are cheaper appear earlier or have shops appear later on. So far I have tried the Valkyrie and probably the magician. There is very little to distinguish them in traits when regarding game play, so even changing characters doesnt add much more fun. I have tried the other characters and the Valkyrie is the best. Also, the cut scenes that appear after reaching certain dungeon floors are kind of fun, but Id rather control the 4 characters and make them navigate the dungeons and have funny commentary come up instead of those little cut scenes.

Needs Multiplayer!

This is a good game but I think that it should have an online part to play with other devices via Bluetooth or wifi. This would really improve the game and allow multiplayer on iphone devices

Needs some fixing.

I love the difficulty of this game, but I cant make it to dungeon 30 without getting spawned right next to a Minotaur and instantly dying. This game would be great without unfair situations like that.

Kinda fun for about 30 minutes

Difficulty gets worse and worse. Possibly too difficult. As you level your weapon gets bigger and more powerful, but not enough to offset the difficulty. But when you die you have to start over. Theres no upgrades or anything else besides picking up a magical scroll that just happens with your normal attack. Controls are move around with the left virtual joystick. Right is a button which you pretty much just hold down constantly. And the direction of the weapon is automatic towards whatever enemy.

Great game, weird new icon

Ive had this game since launch and it is loads of fun, but the new icon doesnt match the actual aesthetic of the game at all now. Imo it would be nice to go back to a pixel icon...

Awesome, But...

...bring back the retro icon... Or at least another icon with a retro design! Part of the charm!

Umm

This is my first review of an app in my life. I love this game but that new icon is hideous. Yall should change it back or use something that looks like the game. Also consider taking out the developer logo, it gives the whole thing a pretty bad aesthetic (Ive skipped checking out game descriptions because of those disgusting corner logos) Great game though!

Love it but broken...

I love the game itself but since updating, whenever I go into a shop and the dialog box appears the game freezes and I have to force quit. Also, I do not like the new logo, it has none of the aesthetic retro charm that the game proudly displays.

Please fix

Fun game but. Every time I enter a shop or quest door when the text pops up on the screen everything freezes

Freezes with dialog boxes

A great game but you can not do quests or purchase Anyang in the shops because the game freezes when a dialog box displays. iPad Air 2.

Hideous new icon

Its like the illustrations done in Philips CD-i for Zeldas Link. Crude and uncharacteristic.

Good but...

This is my one of my favorite games but the new icon is terrible

Great Game, 1 Problem

I think this game is well made and worth the 1.99$. The 8 bit dungeon crawler style makes for an oldschool feel. The graphics are great and the controls are very fluid and easy to pick up and play no problem. The only problem is the application Icon, the elf looks really bad to be honest. My personal opinion is to go back to the normal scull.
